Music Video Monday:  Metallica – One

You’ve already read me mention this song in a previous post and being that it’s a rainy Monday here in Jacksonville, FL and Halloween is just around the corner, I felt the video would be fitting.  I was but a wee tyke when this video premiered on MTV, back when MTV focused on the relevance of their title – MUSIC Television – and didn’t denounce the quality of not being an obnoxious little shitass teenage dirtbag.  Ah, those were the days, right?  I recall standing in my folks’ living room one night in Maryland and seeing this video for the first time.  While I wouldn’t necessarily commit myself as a Metallica fan, especially nowadays, I have always thought of this song and video as one of my all-time fav’s.  The metal, the black-and-white, the old TV show snippets intertwined, Hammett’s guitar solo, and the horror behind the masked face of the video’s protagonist warped me at such a young age (I was about 5) and molded my twisted way of thinking ever since.    When I saw the Twilight Zone episode, “The Eye Of The Beholder,” for the first time, I was drawn back to this video.  There is no correlation that I’m aware of, but the masked protagonist of the video reminds me of the woman who starred in the episode.  I really have no pertinent reason for mentioning that, I’ve just always thought it kind of kooky.  I hope you enjoy the song and I hope the video boosts you into some sort of weird, freaky Halloween mode.  I know it does for me.

P.S.  Apologies for any ads that keep showing up in these videos, it's not our intention to include them, but they need to get paid too.
