I wanted to try something a little different for Favorite Scene Friday this week. Gravity, one of last year's best films, just came out on DVD and Blu-ray on Tuesday. So I wanted to ask everybody out there: What's your favorite scene from the film?
A cool thing about Gravity is that, despite the film taking place in virtually one setting, there are quite a few distinct, amazing scenes. So what's your favorite? Is it that first sequence where we meet Dr. Stone and the other characters? The initial destructive scene? How about the ending? Don’t be shy - chime in down in the comments. I waited two years for Gravity to be released, and it surpassed so many of my expectations. Every scene is such a rollercoaster ride. If I had to pick one, the initial destruction stands out quite a lot. Just the way the chaos throws you off guard, and when Ryan is sent out into space and she's just spinning - it's spellbinding to a point of making me nauseous.

DeleteI think I'd have to echo Katy and go with the scene where she's spinning and the audience is JUST as disoriented and terrified as she is. Although a close second is the moment when her feet hit solid ground at the very end. I nearly stood up and cheered!

DeleteI think the ending is my favorite, followed by that epic moment where she used extinguisher to fly to the final vehicle.

DeleteBesides the initial destruction and floating into space, I love the part where Matt shows up to help Ryan muster up her courage. It's disorienting because you know it can't be true but it doesn't feel like some sort of cheap twist at all when they show that it's definitely not real.
