Team Effort: Shark Movies

On the night the modern classic Sharknado premiered, your friendly neighborhood EH Team was out and about for a night on the town. The film was getting an amazing reception on Twitter, however, and we couldn't help but come up with some SyFy style shark movies of our own.

But it didn't end there. Flash forward a few days later and I came across an article on Arrow In The Head about the upcoming Ghost Shark. The plot sounded kind of awesome and inspired this latest installment of Team Effort. So, in honor of  Shark Week, we bring you the following shark-tastic tales...

“Uncover the Secret of the Dark Waters.”

The year is 2013 and Quint Hawkins, a marine biologist, world-renowned shark chaser and descendant of Admiral Sir John Hawkins, is ready for his next endeavor. The waters of the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida are his next location. Quint and his small crew are in search of the great white, Margaret Lee, said to have the genetic code that will once and for all end the long raging debate between evolutionists and creationists.

However, it will not be easy. Not only will the sea be a challenge because of the impending storm of the century called Hurricane Humberto, but Quint will also have to fight a radical creationist organization who’s out for blood, as well as his longtime rival, the unscrupulous great grandson of Murray Hamilton, Max Hamilton.

Will Quint find the evidence that could destroy organized religion as we know it? Or will the powers that be or Max Hamilton stop him before he can change history?  Raiders of the Lost Shark.

"Half Leprechaun, Half Shark, Full Beard..."

Meet Rob and Sam, young fraternal twins with a healthy Irish heritage.  Rob and Sam’s great Irish grandfather, Seamus, has just passed away and while attending his funeral in Ireland, they are treated to the reading of Seamus’ last will and testament.  They never thought of their great grandfather as a particularly nice man, being that he remained burdened with alcohol and drugs more than with the raising of his son, the loving of his granddaughter, and of course, Rob and Sam.  So it came as a bit of a surprise to them when they learned that Seamus had indeed left them some sort of inheritance.  Not just any inheritance though; no, that wouldn’t do at all...

What Rob and Sam are left with is a pot of gold that was obtained by Seamus when he was just a wee lad.  No one ever knew of this gold and Rob and Sam certainly weren’t born with silver spoons in their mouths, so it always remained a mystery as to how Seamus acquired, consistently, all the alcohol and drugs.  The answer, now, is very apparent.  So with their shiny new inheritance in tow, Rob and Sam head back to sunny Florida looking to reinvent themselves with their new found riches.

Flash forward 17 years; even though Rob and Sam were inseparable as youngsters, their inherited fortune caused them to drift further and further apart each year.  Now, as adults, Sam is dead from an apparent drug overdose in sinful Las Vegas and her brother is absolutely mortified.  How could this happen?  Sam was never into drugs when they were growing up and she never showed an ounce of interest in gambling or anything else Vegas has to offer, so why would she start as an adult?  And why are Rob’s dreams all of a sudden filled with a fearful Sam being chased by...something green and sinister?  Rob has never forgotten their last conversation, or argument rather, and it still irritates him that Sam would indulge in such buffoonery...that the gold was in fact cursed by a half Leprechaun, half shark-like figure and that’s what really killed Grandfather Seamus...now it’s up to Rob to figure out the mystery.

Is the gold really cursed?  Was Sam actually a drug addict?  Will Rob’s fate be the same as his twin and great grandfather’s?  In a tale that stretches the imagination from the beaches of Jacksonville, Florida to Loch Na Fooey in Ireland, only luck can determine the outcome – the luck of The Curse of the Lepre-Shark-Chaun!

"A World Wide Web of Terror..."

Greg Blaine, the son of famed shark hunter Dennis "Sharky" Blaine, is a respected computer programmer in Boston, Massachusetts. Greg has put the summers hunting sharks with his dad behind him. He's put the tragedy behind him. The death. But it's 11:59 p.m. on December 31st, 1999, and all that's about to change.

Greg's company, Great White Systems, is slated to complete work on Boston's state of the art high speed internet. But the company has taken shortcuts. Using the DNA from great white sharks (due to the high conductivity rate) saved the company - and its investors - a lot of money. But unfortunately, the shark DNA has a tendency to bond with the programming, causing virtual sharks to leap out of any screen connected to Great White Systems' internet! When the clock rolls to 2000 and the city turns into a feeding ground for the virtual sharks, Greg will have to debug the system before the programming escapes into the rest of the world...

Can Greg overcome the tragic death of his father and become the shark hunter he was born to be? Or will the deadliest night of the new millennium prove too much for him? A night that would forever be known as...SHARK2K!
