Favorite Scene Friday Double Feature! Inglorious Basterds and Spaceballs!

Nick recently threw down the gauntlet by posting a scene from Wayne's World 2 a week after Pat shared a clip from Austin Powers in Goldmember. I love a good Favorite Scene Friday theme, so I had to share a Mike Myers scene.

I've chosen a film that you might not associate with Myers right off the bat - Inglorious Basterds. The scene below is the only screen time the actor has in the entire film. Not to mention that the gentleman Myers shares the scene with pretty much steals the show. Basterds is an incredible film (I just watched it again recently) and this scene in particular - considering the two actors involved and the fact that it it has quite a bit to do with movies - is particularly fun. Sorry for the volume...

You might be asking yourself, "Robert, why the pairing of Inglorious Basterds and Spaceballs?" Let me explain...

At midnight tonight and tomorrow, Sun-Ray Cinema here in Jacksonville is showing Spaceballs. The flick's got some hilarious scenes, and since the theater's playing it this weekend, I really wanted to share one of my favorites. I had to go for the turkey with Myers scenes, but the scene below is tagging along for the ride.

This clip is genius and surely the inspiration for modern comedic long takes like this. The whole movie amounts to the greatest space spoof ever and - if you're in Jacksonville - you'd be wise to stop by Sun-Ray for one of the screenings. The Schwartz is strong with them...

  1. Sooo raise your hand if you had no idea that was Mike Myers the first time you saw Inglorious Basterds.

I figured it out right at the tail end of that scene, and it made the movie so much better. Love that scene.

    1. Alex - I think I read about Myers doing a cameo before I saw the film. If I hadn't I probably wouldn't have realized it was him. Pretty great little cameo.

      Thanks for reading!
