Batch o’ Hatch: This One’s For You Edition

Occasionally I come across movie news and stories that (hopefully) appeal to my friends and fellow bloggers. They may have already heard about these but I’ll share them anyway.

The Joker/Tom Waits - for Nick

I thought our very own Nick would get a kick out of this. Last week The Hollywood Reporter posted a story featuring old footage of musician Tom Waits that may or may not have inspired Heath Ledger’s The Joker. I’m pretty sure Nick is a big Waits fan so maybe he can weigh in for me.

A Night in the Woods - for Pete @ I Love That Film

Pete over at I Love That Film is getting his PhD in Found Footage Films (for real), so I was curious about what he thought of this trailer for the upcoming A Night in the Woods that Arrow in the Head shared last week. It might be decent, plus the filmmakers involved are definitely interesting.

Oh, and the preview for Paranormal Activity 4 recently appeared online. Looks pretty tired.

I’m pretty sure Pete’s on his honeymoon so I won’t hold my breath for a response on this one.

Liberal Arts - for Shala @ Life Between Films

Josh Radnor from How I Met Your Mother has been trying his hand at directing lately. I didn’t catch his first flick, Happythankyoumoreplease, but Shala at Life Between Films recently featured it on her Movies on Repeat post.

Wikipedia
Radnor’s gone and done it again - Liberal Arts, the follow up to Happy is coming our way. I don’t know why but this film appeals to me way more than Radnor’s first film ever did. It might have something to do with Richard Jenkins but it definitely has something to do with Elizabeth Olsen. She seems perfect in this trailer featured on THR.

  2. That's creepy how similar Tom Waits' voice is to Heath Ledger's joker

    1. @Andina - Very freaky indeed. Too similar to be a coincidence.

  4. Wow I quite liked both trailers! Found footage lives on! Neither offer anything new but something about the technique still gets me excited when it's done effectively. Both of these look like they could be good. Paranormal Activity has gotta run out of juice soon though surely!

    1. @Pete - I think PA4 will be good, even though I'm not crazy about the trailer. I wouldn't mind more sequels, so hopefully the juice lasts for a while!
