Favorite Scene Friday!: The Gremlins

Gremlins was one of my favorite movies growing up, but looking back now, it is really a down right scary "kids" movie. Sure Gizmo (the voice of Howie Mandel) and his friends were cute and adorable little fur balls, but once the directions weren't followed on how to properly care for the mogwais, these loveable fur balls turned into killing beasts with an appetite for destruction.

The 1984 classic stars the incomparable Zach Galligan and the beautiful Phoebe Cates. Yes that Phoebe Cates. So even if you're not into black comedies, you can stare at her for at least 40-45 minutes. However, I don't think that will be the case. Gremlins, although the animation is a little out dated, is a movie that still holds up today. And since the setting is around Christmas, when will there be a better time to grab some eggnog, curl up under a blanket and watch Gizmo save the day?

In this scene, the H.G.I.C. Stripe brandishes a handgun in an attempt to take out our human hero Billy (Zach Galligan), but our little fuzzy friend finds a way to save Billy and stop the evil Stripe. Make sure to listen closely for one of the best lines in the movie, "Gizmo caca." I hope you all enjoyed your apocalyptic Friday and if I don't get a chance, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you that have hung in there with us. We appreciate all of the reads and comments.

  1. I still love the effects in this film! If they ever remake Gremlins with CGI I'll be gutted!

  2. I've never actually seen this beginning to end in one sitting...I've maybe seen 60-75% of it. Maybe I'll catch it for Xmas next year!
