Favorite Scene Friday! Used Cars: That's Too F@&kin' High!

Today's FSF comes from one of most underrated and under appreciated comedies of the 80's. I first saw Used Cars when I was around 10 or 11. Although I didn't understand some of the comedy at the time, I thought it was hilarious. Plus mom and dad didn't know I watched it, so that made it even better. It stars a young Kurt Russell as a wise talking, shister of a car salesman. A role similar to his character in another funny movie, The Best of Times. Used Cars was written and directed by Robert Zemeckis and produced by non other than Steven Spielberg. How can you not wanna a see a movie with those three involved?

Rudy Russo (Russell) and Jeff (Gerrit Graham) portray slacker car salesmen working for used car dealer Luke Fuchs (Jack Warden). Luke's competition is his brother Roy (Warden as well), who is located directly across the street. Roy has plans to take over his brother's poorly run lot, but after Luke dies, Rudy and Jeff have other plans.

In this scene, Jeff and Freddie (David L. Lander a.k.a "Squiggy") have high jacked the air waves to run a commercial for New Deal Used Cars. Jeff, dressed as Marshall Lucky, shoots down the competition as well as the menacing Mr. High Prices (Frank McRae) himself. It's one of the funniest scenes in a movie filled with tons funny scenes. Enjoy and if you've never seen it, do yourself a favor and check it out.

  1. I've never seen that. I really need to watch it. I remember Back to the Future was put on hold because Used Cars wasn't a hit and Zemekis and Spielberg were reluctant to put out another movie that may also tank. I think Gale also helped Zemekis write it. All three BTTF alums.

  3. Paxton- Good nugget. It's not an award winner, but if you like 80's comedy then you'll like this. Gale did get co-write credit. Thanks for the read.

  9. All this has changed today. Cars are no longer made by hand. Man is only involved in the process of ideas and planning but the actual assembly is achieved using high-end machinery which is mostly computer controlled. Plants such as the Nissan plant in Mississippi produces hundreds of units a day.

  11. Many people feel collector cars are great investments even though they are consistently fluctuating in value; they are always being bought and sold just like stocks by investors, so they are easy to make liquid. They are not a safe investment but, like most collectibles, can be lucrative at times.auto transport
